Hair loss: 'a sensitive issue'

Jibes about hair loss may seem amusing but they can be upsetting for many men, Alopecia UK has claimed.
Balding men are often upset by insensitive comments about losing their hair and feel pressurised into shaving their heads, the hair loss charity revealed.
Ruth Bowdage from the charity explained that many men feel a sense of isolation and lack of confidence when their hair starts to recede.
Many males have a "really, really hard time" coping with both hair loss and comments from friends and family about their changing appearance.
"Some men are very upset because they feel people dismiss what is happening to them as unimportant," she said.
"For men in particular, people don't regard it as unacceptable to nudge each other and say 'oh look, he is losing his hair now' without really thinking through the effect of those words, or the consequences."
According to the Men's Health Forum, two-thirds of all men will eventually be affected by male pattern baldness, with 7.4 million men losing their hair at any one time. A recent survey found that British men are more affected by hair loss than their European counterparts but are the least likely to do anything about it.
